PLAN BEFORE STARTING WORK
Support for your project. Conditions worth checking.
Replacing windows or doors? Some improvements may qualify for financial assistance. Choose your province to see the key requirements before planning installation. This overview is a starting point, not a substitute for the official rules or the program’s eligibility decision.
Quebec
Rénoclimat — Energy efficiency
New rules effective October 1, 2026
Who can qualify?
Owners of eligible homes in Quebec: houses, duplexes, triplexes and multi-unit residential buildings. The building must meet the guide’s requirements, including its age, size and occupancy criteria.
Which improvements?
Replacement windows and sliding glass patio doors certified ENERGY STAR® Most Efficient, installed in existing rough openings. Check the model’s reference number. Standard ENERGY STAR certification alone is insufficient. Entry doors, glass-only replacement and sash-only replacement do not qualify under this stream.
How much?
$300 per eligible rough opening, up to $4,500 for a house or $6,000 for an eligible duplex, triplex or multi-unit building. Multiple windows within one rough opening do not multiply the rebate.
Where to start
- Confirm the model and applicable program route before ordering. Energy assessments are optional under the new route.
- Use a contractor holding the required licences. Keep product labels, invoices and the contractor’s signed work-compliance attestation.
- Apply through the new portal within 12 months of completing the work.
Ontario
Home Renovation Savings
Home energy assessment stream
Who can qualify?
Owners of eligible homes in Ontario. You must generally heat primarily with Enbridge-supplied natural gas and have an active account, or heat with electricity, propane, oil or wood and be connected to Ontario’s electricity grid. Your building type, utility and location matter.
Which improvements?
Professional replacement of non-certified units with ENERGY STAR models: windows, doors and sliding patio doors. The new unit must include its frame; glass-only replacement is insufficient. All windows and doors together count as just one qualified upgrade.
How much?
$100 per eligible rough opening. Minimum: three window openings or one door, sliding patio door or skylight opening. You must also complete another qualified upgrade from the assessment stream. Windows plus doors alone do not satisfy the two-upgrade requirement.
Where to start
- Complete the initial assessment through an approved service organization before starting any work. Choose at least two recommended, qualified upgrades.
- Confirm products and deadlines, then complete the work. Leave labels attached until the final assessment and keep your invoices.
- Complete the final assessment with the same service organization; your energy advisor submits the required documents.
Rebates, financing and promotions are different.
A rebate depends on program rules. Financing is credit that must be repaid; a promotion is a separate commercial offer. Do not combine them in your budget without checking their terms.
The Canada Greener Homes Grant is closed. The federal loan has not accepted new applications since October 2, 2025. Neither is presented here as available support for a new project.
