A closer look.

Chelsea · The room and the landscape.

In this project published by FenXtra, a large window sits at the centre of a brick bay. The video shows the opening during the work and then the view from inside. One project, two ways of looking at the home.

The view from the exterior

Before choosing a composition, look outside from where you usually sit. The lines of the frame will become part of the view.

Val-des-Monts · The entrance as a whole.

This photograph supplied by FenXtra shows an entrance in Val-des-Monts: a black door, two glazed sidelights and a broad arched transom in a stone facade. There is more to consider than the door panel alone: the whole entrance deserves attention.

A detail during the work

For your entrance, think about arriving with your hands full as well as the exterior. Glazing, the threshold and room to move belong in the same conversation.

The rhythm of the exterior

Start with alignments: window heads, frame widths, solid walls and openings. One clear idea can connect openings that serve different purposes.

The first gesture of welcome

The entrance connects the street with the home. Look at the door alongside its surroundings: cladding, light, house number and space to pause.

A room looking outward

Consider a patio door from the table, the sofa and the terrace, too. Trace the route between the two spaces before choosing the glazed composition.
